What Tessance does with your data
The developer collects nothing. Tessance is an on-device puzzle game with no developer server, no account, no analytics backend, no tracking, and no advertising. Your progress lives on your device, and if you are signed in to iCloud it syncs through your own private iCloud, which the developer cannot access or read. The details are below.
Data stored on your device
Tessance saves your progress locally, on your device:
- Which studies you have completed and your position in the curriculum
- Your records and best results
- The hints you currently hold
- App preferences (appearance, representation, audio and haptic settings)
- A local note of whether Full Enrollment has been purchased
None of this identifies you, and none of it is sent to the developer.
iCloud sync
If you are signed in to iCloud, Tessance keeps your progress in step across your Apple devices using Apple’s iCloud key-value storage. This is a small amount of data (a few kilobytes describing your curriculum progress) that syncs quietly in the background.
- Sync is handled entirely by Apple. Tessance does not operate any server, and the developer cannot see or read what is synced.
- The synced data is limited to game progress and preferences. No personal information, no usage analytics, no identifiers, and no audio.
- If you are not signed in to iCloud, or the iCloud key-value store is unavailable, everything still works and is saved only on your device.
- You can stop the syncing by signing out of iCloud in iOS Settings. Apple’s privacy policy governs iCloud: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
App Store purchase
The one-time Full Enrollment unlock is processed entirely by Apple’s App Store. Tessance never sees your payment information. Your purchase is associated with your Apple ID for restore purposes, and Apple’s StoreKit is the source of truth for it on every device you sign in to.
Microphone, camera, location, contacts
Tessance does not request or use the microphone, camera, location, contacts, motion data, or any other personal device data. The app plays audio, but it never records it.
No Game Center, no notifications
Tessance does not use Game Center, does not have leaderboards, and does not send push notifications.
Crash reports and diagnostics
Tessance does not include any third-party crash reporter, analytics SDK, or tracking library. If you choose to share crash logs with Apple via iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may include Tessance crash data in the reports they send to developers. This is controlled entirely by you through iOS’s system settings.
Children’s privacy
Tessance does not knowingly collect data from any user, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes in a material way, the update will be reflected here and noted in the app’s release notes.
